Pet First Aid

The guiding missions of two organizations, The American Red Cross and the Humane Society of the United states has designed a course to help you save your pet's life in an emergency.

The American Red Cross is the nation's largest humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principals of the International Red Cross Movement.  The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest animal protection organization, addressing a wide range of animal issues from wildlife to companion animals, to the animal victims of disaster.

Felids and Friends, Inc. is proud to offer this course to Southwest Florida residents.

This course is designed to help us provide emergency medical care to our beloved pets.  Just like the human version of first aid, this course will teach you to:

  • Approach a sick or injured dog or cat.

  • Administer Medication.

  • Recognize an emergency.

  • Learn what the normal health signs are for your pet.

  • Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR.

  • Recognize and treat  shock.

  • Handle choking.

  • Treat bleeding.

  • Manage common emergencies and problems requiring immediate attention.

This course does not take the place of your veterinarian.  It is designed to make your pet more comfortable in the event of an emergency and save his life until you can transport him to your veterinarian.
